Star Cookie Cake
For this fun cookie cake you will simply ice (alternating red and blue) and stack five large stars, five medium stars and one small star. You will be using the bead border, mini scallops using a #1 round Wilton tip, and individual beads. The top cookie was outlined with the regular consistency icing and then filled with the thinned consistency icing.
General Icing Prep Instructions:
Prepare my meringue icing as given in the instructions. Divide it into three bowls and mix colors into all, but the white. Add coloring a few drops at a time) You should have white, red, and blue icing. Add 2-3 heaping tablespoons to each disposable bag with coupler and tip already in place. Then take remaining icing and water down each bowl one Tablespoon of water at a time, mixing with a fork until you reach the desired consistency. You know it is right when the icing will naturally fall slowly to a flat point. Be careful to not thin it too much. It still needs to be a bit thick or it will run every where or won’t dry flat. Pour icing into condiment bottles and you are ready to decorate.
Tie Dyed Stars
This is probably one of the fastest, easiest and simply cute designs. If your time is extremely limited, this would be my number one suggestion. It’s pretty self explanatory in the tutorial. If you have any additional questions, please ask and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
So I did something a little different in this tutorial. I decided to show you how to correct a mistake because I know how frustrating it can be when you work so hard on something only to mess it up. It’s by making mistakes that we get better at doing things. So in this tutorial I will show you how to save a cookie you’ve messed up on.
Jar of Stars
This was my favorite cookie to make out of the bunch. It’s so easy to mix the light blue icing right on the cookie vs. having to mix it in a bowl ahead of time. This saves time and energy, not to mention it gives it the glass jar look we want.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these tutorials and find enjoyment in creating your own Fourth of July memories in your own way.
